Questions & Answers

Here you'll find a list of the most commonly asked questions regarding Breast Augmentation surgery with Dr. Robert N. Young, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in San Antonio, Texas. If you don't see your questions listed here, please fill out the Contact Form and someone will respond to your question shortly.

How much is a Breast Augmentation?

Breast Augmentations cost approximately $4450.00, which includes Dr. Young's surgeon fees, your breast implants, anesthesia by your Board Certified Anesthesiologist, Operating Room fees, your basic labs (CBC bloodwork), your pre-operative visit and all of your follow up visits for the first year. Dr. Young evaluates each patient in a private Consultation Visit to determine specific needs, choice of implants, incision site, etc.

How long is recovery for most Breast Augmentation procedures?

We usually recommend taking one week from work, with no lifting. Most women return to work after one week, and return to regular workout routines after 4-8 weeks. Please refer to our Guide to Surgery Procedures for more details.

Can I still breast feed with implants?

Yes, many women successfully breast feed following Breast Augmentation surgery. We advise that you check with your own plastic surgeon, general practitioner or pediatrician.

Is the price of the breast augmentation determined by the desired cup size?

No, there is one price for any cup or implant size you end up selecting. The type of implant you choose, however, can affect price. Silicone implants are more costly than saline breast implants.

Do I need to stay in the hospital or can I recover at home?

Most patients are able to recover at home comfortably. Most of our patients (except those who come to us from out-of town or out-of-state) go home within hours of their surgery and are able to recover in the comfort of their own home. Those who come from areas outside of San Antonio usually arrange to stay with friends/relatives, or make arrangements at one of the many local hotels (see Accommodations).

How long from the time I have my consultation until I can get my procedure done?

The time frame is mainly determined by the type of procedure and surgery date requested by the patient. It can range from a day or two to several weeks. We encourage you to tell our staff your desired timeframe at the time you schedule your consultation visit so that we can help accommodate your wishes.

Will I need to come back in to have the procedure checked? Are there any post-op procedures?

Yes, we will schedule "follow up" appointments after surgery to follow your progress. Generally there will be a one week, one month, three month, six month and one year follow up appointment schedule. If there are any post-op procedures needed they will be determined at the follow up appointments.

Where is the surgery performed?

All surgeries are performed in Dr. Young's own fully accredited Surgery Center conveniently located adjacent to our clinic offices in the Remington Oaks medical building at 525 Oak Centre Drive in the Stone Oak section of San Antonio, Texas.

Can consultations be done over the phone?

No, an appointment is needed to properly evaluate your needs. Each patient is unique and we need to perform an examination, a breast implant fitting, review your medical history, and be able to respond to your individual questions and needs.

Do you have payment plans or financing available?

As a company we do not offer payment plans, but we can recommend several financial companies that deal mainly with cosmetic procedures. Many of our patients have had good experiences in dealing with these companies, and between them they offer a wide range of options. See our informative Cost & Financing page for more information.
