We all look in the mirror and see parts of our body we wish we could improve. For many of us, the buttocks are the primary region for our frustration. At DrYoungForever in San Antonio, TX, we understand that invasive medical procedures requiring the implantation of synthetic materials aren’t right for everyone. For this reason, we are proud to offer a safer, more natural procedure known as the Brazilian butt lift in San Antonio TX.
17 Things You Need to Know About the Brazilian Butt Lift in San Antonio TX.
1. You Aren’t Getting Things “Lifted”
When people think of a “lift”, they think of the skin over a certain body part being tightened to promote the appearance of youthfulness. A Brazilian butt lift, or BBL, certainly helps the client look younger. However, there is no incision made to separate and then “lift” the skin into a more youthful position. Rather, skin appears tighter because the treated regions are fuller.
2. You Won’t Be Comfortable During the Procedure
Unlike invasive butt lifts or butt augmentations, this procedure is extremely straightforward and comfortable. It is usually performed under general anesthesia, so you are asleep and pain-free throughout the entire process. However, if general anesthesia makes you nauseous and you don’t want to take anti-nausea medication beforehand, you may ask that the procedure be performed under local anesthesia.
This procedure begins by your surgeon removing fat from a problem part of your body via liposuction. Commonly, fat is removed from the abdomen, inner thighs or hips because there is enough fat to remove. Liposuction involves making a tiny pinhole in the skin so a thin tube can be inserted and fat can be suctioned out. Once the fat has been removed and purified, it is prepared for injection into your buttocks. Then, between three to five fat injections are made in strategic areas of the buttocks to achieve a full, rounded, youthful look.
3. Your Overall Contours Will Improve
Because excess adipose tissue is removed from a region of your body you are self-conscious about, your overall contours are improved drastically during this procedure.
Many people find that they don’t just struggle with a flat or shapeless butt. Often, there are also issues with the top half of the body being disproportionately large. A Brazilian butt lift in San Antonio allows you to re-contour the entire body as liposuction can be performed on multiple locations during the procedure.
4. You’ll Have Natural Results
One of the most significant downsides of traditional butt augmentation is that synthetic silicone implants look and feel unnatural. Certain shapes, sizes, placements and materials can make the results look fairly natural. However, they can’t hold a candle to the results of a BBL.
Because a Brazilian butt lift uses your body’s own fat, there is no risk of a negative reaction, such as an allergic reaction or rejection of foreign material. Moreover, the results look and feel like you were born with it.
5. You’ll Enjoy Long-Lasting Results
The results from a Brazilian buttocks lift are low-maintenance and long-lasting. There is no need for regular MRIs to ensure the implants are undamaged and still in the correct position. Moreover, as long as you don’t lose a drastic amount of weight, there is no risk of the results fading. Most traditional implants need to be replaced every 10 to 15 years.
6. You Are Probably a Good Candidate
Because a Brazilian buttocks lift is so safe and effective, there is an excellent chance that you are a good candidate. To be a good candidate for this procedure, you must have enough fat to remove from the donor site to augment your buttocks properly. If you want to undergo general anesthesia, your pulmonary and cardiovascular systems must be healthy enough for anesthesia.
Moreover, you should have realistic expectations about the entire process, from the preparation through the recovery. During your initial consultation, we will advise you of everything you can expect, including what results you can realistically expect.
7. You Will Find It Easier to Shop for Clothes
Depending on your body shape, finding clothes that fit can be incredibly difficult. For example, it can be hard to find jeans that fit if your hips or abdomen are particularly large while your butt is lacking in volume. Women may find difficulty in trying to find dresses that fit comfortably and look attractive if they have significant fat around their upper or middle back.
8. You Can Look Years Younger
While sagging skin is often the result of significant weight loss, it is more commonly perceived as a sign of aging. This is because collagen and elastin weaken and your body can no longer produce enough of these crucial proteins and fibers. Regardless of why your buttocks skin is sagging, there is no denying it can make you look older than you are.
Because this procedure adds much-needed volume to your buttocks, your buttocks skin will no longer sag. This taut skin will make you look younger and healthier than you have in years.
9. You Don’t Need an Overnight Stay
Some cosmetic procedures are so extensive that they require an overnight hospital stay. A Brazilian buttocks lift, contrastingly, only lasts between 1.5 and four hours. The length of the procedure depends on several factors. Determining factors include how many areas are being treated with liposuction, the size of those areas, how much fat needs to be removed by the liposuction and how much fat needs to be purified for injection into your buttocks. Moreover, your procedure may be longer depending on the extent of the correction to your buttocks that needs to occur.
During your initial consultation, your cosmetic surgeon will advise you on how long you can expect the procedure to take. The most important thing you need to understand about this procedure is you will be able to go home on the same day as your procedure. Since you can’t drive within 24 hours of being put under general anesthesia, you will need to arrange for someone to drive you to our state-of-the-art facility and back home.
10. You Can’t Eat Before Your Procedure
For the general anesthesia to work safely and effectively, your stomach must be empty. Therefore, you may not eat or drink anything for several hours pre-op. As a general rule of thumb, you are advised to stop eating and drinking after midnight to allow your stomach a minimum of eight hours to empty.
However, depending on the extent of your procedure, you may be able to consume food within six hours of your procedure. Furthermore, you may be able to drink clear fluids, like coffee, water, black tea and processed fruit juices, up to two hours pre-op. Do not drink fluids which may have fats or proteins in them, such as coffee or tea with milk. Moreover, you should not chew any form of gum, including nicotine gum, during the six to eight hours pre-op.
11. You Will Need to Stop Smoking Before Your Procedure
We strongly advise you to stop smoking for six weeks pre-op and six weeks post-op. Nicotine, one of the chemicals found in cigarettes, elevates blood pressure. To be a good candidate for a Brazilian buttocks lift, it is important to have blood pressure within a healthy range. Moreover, because nicotine constricts blood vessels, it can lengthen your recovery time.
If you can’t stop smoking for 12 weeks, we strongly recommend that you refrain from smoking for at least the two weeks leading up to your procedure. If you can stop smoking for 12 weeks, we recommend that you do not start smoking after you are fully recovered. Nicotine is one of the leading causes of sagging skin and other signs of premature aging.
12. You May Need a Follow-Up Procedure
Some people think they know exactly how many milliliters of volume they will need to be added to their buttocks to achieve their ideal aesthetic. However, you may find that you didn’t have enough fat grafted the first time. Alternatively, you may find that you asked for too much fat to be transferred during the procedure. Just a bit of liposuction may be all you need to achieve your ideal aesthetic for years to come.
13. You May Have to Temporarily Change Your Sleeping Position
To ensure a comfortable recovery, you must sleep on your stomach or side for the first two weeks post-op. If you’re worried that you will roll onto your back in your sleep, we recommend sleeping with a tennis ball tucked inside a snug, stretchy shirt. Some of our clients even sleep with a backpack on to avoid rolling over.
Moreover, you may not sit on your buttocks for the first two weeks post-op. To ensure the best results, you must avoid putting pressure on the buttocks as the grafted fat connects to its new home. We only transfer whole, undamaged fat cells to the Brazilian butt lift in San Antonio treatment site. However, too much pressure can lead to cellular destruction if you’re not careful. Therefore, you must sit on a custom cushion designed specifically for clients who undergo BBL.
14. You May Have to Stop Taking Certain Medications
As important as it is to ensure your blood pressure is within a healthy range, it is just as important that your blood is not too thin. Bring in a list of all medications and supplements you are currently taking, including the dosage. Certain supplements and drugs can thin your blood. These include vitamin E, St. John’s Wort and ibuprofen. You may need to stop taking these for three to 14 days pre-op.
15. You Can Have Other Procedures Done at the Same Time
For many people, body contouring goals don’t stop with a little fat removal and butt augmentation. Many people are self-conscious about their chests. Besides liposuction, a BBL can be performed in conjunction with any number of procedures, including breast lift, breast reduction and breast augmentation.
What to Expect From a Breast Lift
A breast lift is a procedure designed to restore the breasts to a more youthful position. Sagging breasts can be caused by aging, smoking, genetics, drastic weight loss or pregnancy. During this procedure, excess skin is removed and the breasts are restored to a loftier resting position. In some cases, the nipple and areola are raised to perfect the youthful appearance.
What to Expect From a Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is a procedure designed to enhance the appearance of breasts which are small, misshapen, asymmetrical or otherwise imperfect. The two primary forms of implants are silicone implants and saline implants. These implants are available in many profiles, volumes, textures, thicknesses, shapes and shell lumens.
Bring pictures of your ideal aesthetic to your initial consultation so Dr. Robert N. Young can review your goals and current body structure. He will also help you identify the best implant type and placement for your lifestyle and aesthetic goals.
What to Expect From a Breast Reduction
A breast reduction is often performed in conjunction with a breast lift. It is designed to remove excess fat, skin and glandular tissue from the breasts to achieve a more attractive appearance. It will take several months to see your final results because your breasts do not immediately settle into their final resting place. However, as long as you maintain your current body weight and keep your skin healthy and strong, the results are permanent.
16. You Must Temporarily Avoid Exercise
During the first three weeks post-op, you must avoid exercise. Aerobic activity, and some anaerobic activity, elevates your blood pressure. To keep your blood pressure within a healthy range, you may only engage in light walking twice daily.
Moreover, for the first two months post-op, you must avoid fat-burning exercises, such as intense swimming, cycling and running. Give the grafted fat time to settle into your buttocks before you aim to burn off that last bit of abdominal fat. Furthermore, you should avoid exercises that put too much pressure on your buttocks, such as deadlifts and power snatches.
17. You Must Maintain Your Weight for at Least a Year
Roughly six weeks post-op, some of the grafted fat will have been established. After three to six months, nearly all the grafted fat will have taken hold and established permanency. However, it can take up to 12 months for all the transferred fat cells to become permanent. Therefore, avoiding weight loss during this time is crucial.
If you’re not sure you can maintain your weight, ask your physician for a referral to a licensed nutritionist. You can return to your usual physical activity shortly after your procedure. But you need to make sure you’re eating enough calories to maintain your weight.
