Breast Implants FAQ
Do breast implants give you cleavage?
Not necessarily. If your breasts are set far apart, increasing the size of the breasts will not result in cleavage. If your shoulders are narrow, and your breasts are close together, then increasing the size will also increase cleavage.
How long does it take to recover from breast implant surgery?
For implants that are placed below the muscle (submuscular) patients often require two weeks of rest before returning to normal activities. Implants placed above the muscle, the downtime is often as short as a single week.
How long until I can exercise again?
It’s recommended that patients don’t exert themselves for two weeks after surgery. This includes vigorous exercise, or any activity that involves heavy lifting. Many exercise like weightlifting, jogging, or other activities with rapid movement should not performed up to six weeks after surgery. This is to prevent shifting the breast implants out of position.
Will I be given an anesthetic?
General anesthesia is typically used for breast surgery. Dr. Young can also provide a local anesthetic if required.
When can I resume my normal life?
Many patients can return to work within just a few days of rest, but are urged to avoid strenuous physical activities.
